Tres leches is a piece for solo percussionist and unpitched percussion. The piece explores three different sonic ideas – the hiss, the crack, and the splash – and layers them together, all while simultaneously exploring and combining complimentary rhythmic patterns. It is the composer’s sincere hope that all of this can combine to make something delicious.
Tres leches is written solo percussionist with multiple small percussion instruments, including daily items like newspaper and bubble wrap. It was commissioned by acclaimed percussionist Tim McKay and premiered in his faculty concert recital series at Howard Community College in Columbia, Maryland.
