Mass for the New Jerusalem reflects my commitment to community engagement and collaboration with other artists. Written at the request of conductor Timothy Reno, the mass makes use of the Roman missal’s new English translation which was only implemented in Advent of 2011. The piece is intended to be functional art music and has been designed with care to be long enough to stand on its own as a concert piece, yet short enough for use in a liturgical context. It purposefully has one foot in the church and the other in the concert hall.
The mass is scored for string quartet (appropriate for concert performance or high festival days) but also has versions for piano or organ accompaniment.
