A Song for Peace is a short piece for choir and African djembe. Written in an African marching song style, the song is designed for a procession at the beginning of a concert program. A singer and drummer start the call, and the choir picks up the response, walking onto the stage and into place. Once onstage, the music shifts to a gentle, polyphonic hymn for peace. Texts in Tagalog and Swahili increase the sense of international fellowship.
Appropriate for choirs at almost all levels. One singer at least should be a strong soloist. The texts in Swahili and Tagalog are easily pronounced and eminently singable.
